Long KS/98 Bayonet w/Double-Etched
Blade & Frog. Carl Eickhorn, squirrel holding
sword, stamped TM. Nickel plated over gray metal
hilt fittings show only minor wear/age/patina with
tack hammer dings on pommel reverse. Green felt
plug is in the pommel slot. The black bakelite grips
are near perfect with 3 minor chips on the reverse
spine edge. The plated blade measuring 24.7cm in
length grades EX+ showing minor runner marks/age,
but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Obverse
blade features Carl Eickhorn etch pattern Nr. 3220
with a ribbon band and standard remembrance of service
time motto surrounded by oak leaves with raised
oak leaf wreath/stahlhelm and crossed rifles at
tip end and Wehrmacht eagle at ricasso end of the
etched panel. Reverse blade features Carl Eickhorn
etch pattern Nr. 3223 inscribed in raised Gothic
letters "Infanterie Regiment No 43". Blade
retains 100% of the light gray background frosting
in the etched panels and is complete with brown
leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard
retains 95% of the original black enamel showing
minor crazing and loss of paint to lower ball. The
dark brown, original to the piece, leather frog
with gray felt backing completes this fine example.
EX+ (25346) $975.
