Royal Yugoslav Navy Officer's Dagger
w/Etched blade.No Maker TM. A photograph of
this Type II Navy Officer dagger can be found on
page 277 of World Of Dress Daggers 1900 - 1945,
Volume I by Robert Berger. The gilded brass hilt
fittings show minor surface wear/age to Turks knot
pommel and crossguard with two dolphins facing a
sea shell pattern quillon block with a reverse mounted
blade spring release button. The black celluloid-over-wood
grip shows only small nicks to obverse/reverse,
but no cracks and is complete with brass twisted
wire wrap. The center ridge, double-etched blade
with ricasso and scabbard release spring grades
EX++ shows light surface wear and some minor speckling
primarily near tip, but no sharpening or nicks to
the cutting edges and is complete with a brown leather
buffer pad. The obverse blade features a raised
floral motif while the reverse blade features a
floral motif flanking a central royal cipher of
King Peter II, 1934-1941 comprised of a royal crown
over Cyrillic "P" with Roman Numeral II.
The dent-free brass scabbard features pebbled panels
with two impressed bay leaf pattern suspension bands
showing only light surface wear to the obverse/reverse
shell. A smooth panel below the upper scabbard fitting
features a raised fouled anchor while the lower
obverse fitting features a raised facsimile of Neptune
above a trident flanked with a floral motif. EX+
