Early
RAD EM Hewer. Carl Julius Krebs Solingen, Crown
over cursive "K" within double-oval TM.
Early nickel-silver hilt fittings show minor surface
wear with light wear/age patina, but no lifting
or speckling and with approximately 98% of the factory
darkening remaining in detail of crossguard. Medium
brown stag horn grip plates show light age toning,
but no chips or cracks. Polished blade grades EX++
showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no
gray spotting or nicks to cutting edge. Deeply etched
motto retains 100% of the light gray background
frosting and reverse is marked with the RAD diamond
and "Ges.Gesch.". Dent-free steel scabbard
retains approximately 95% of the original black
enamel showing minor surface wear and a few surface
scrapes, but no major loss of paint. Dent-free,
silver-plated scabbard fittings show light surface
wear/age patina with minor loss of plating to the
reverse upper fitting (where it rubbed against the
hanger). Much of the factory darkening remains in
the recesses of the scroll-work on the upper fitting
and wheat and spade motif on the lower fitting,
and all four retaining screws are present. Nice
RAD Hewer combination recently obtained in Germany.
EX+/EX++ (26189) $1,595.
