Prussian
Cavalry Model 89 Sword. Alcoso (scales) TM. An example
of this Imperial sword can be found on p. 154 of Collecting
the Edged Weapons of Imperial Germany. Nickel-silver
folding crossguard features the Prussian eagle and crest.
Grip is perfect. Hilt does show some age and wear. Beautiful
double-engraved blade features, on the obverse, a deep
acid-etched floral motif. The center is Regiment dedicated.
It reads, "Oldenb. Drag. Reg. 19". The reverse
blade shows charging Cavalry mounted troops. Upper portion
of the engraved panel shows buildings. Blade is bright
but does show some pitting to both obverse and reverse
(certainly not major). Brown leather blade buffer pad
is intact. Unusual soft brown leather scabbard with
upper and lower metal fittings has a heavy crease in
the middle. Nice! VG+/Exc. (9937) $795. SOLD
