2nd Model Bahnschutz Dagger w/Deluxe Hangers. No maker. Although unmarked, the crossguard winged insignia has a casting flaw in the right wing of the Bahnschutz insignia on the obverse langet as is correct for an Eickhorn produced 2nd model Bahnschutz dagger. Factory frosted aluminum hilt fittings show minor surface wear with approximately 99% of the frosting remaining to the spherical pommel with raised sunwheel swastika, ribbed ferrule and crossguard. The is one tiny nick in the outer ridge of the pommel. Black, solid celluloid, ridged grip has a missing chip to the lower reverse shaft of grip, inside the ferrule, resulting in a 1/8" chip visible on the reverse grip. The remainder of the grip is perfect with no cracks or chips. Mirror polished, blade grading Exc++, shows faint runner marks with some minor gray shadowing, but no nicks to cutting edges, and is complete with dark brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, polished, frosted-steel scabbard shows some minor surface specks, but no pitting or other damage. The original Bahnschutz hangers in Near MINT condition show virtually no wear with age to the aluminum bullion facings with black stripes and oak leaf embellished clips and the black velvet backings. The oval oak leaf pattern buckles, slides and deluxe, Assmann marked lower clips show dark age patina with nor damage. Superb unmarked, Eickhorn style, Bahnschutz example complete w/ORIGINAL hangers, recently obtained from the family of a WWII Maryland veteran. Exc++/Near MINT (25016) PRICE ON REQUEST SOLD
