Early SA Dagger. Aesculap Tuttlingen,
crowned snake in the form of an S twisted around
a pole within a double-circle TM. As stated on page
52 of The Sword And Knife Makers Of Germany 1850-2000
Volume 1 by the late Anthony Carter, "SA and
NSKK daggers were produced with the round Aesculap
marking.". Nickel-silver hilt fittings show
light surface wear with the reverse lower crossguard
group marked, "Sw" (Sudwest). Dark-brown,
fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear
with minor chips and one small depression adjacent
to the reverse upper crossguard, but no cracks.
Silver grip eagle and SA insert are properly inset.
Polished blade grades EX/EX+, showing light surface
wear/runner marks w/a few spots of minor gray shadowing
and one tiny nick to right cutting edge. Deeply-etched
motto shows wear to the black background frosting.
Dent-free steel scabbard shows uniform surface speckling
to the brown anodization and factory lacquer with
no major loss of factory finish. Nickel-silver scabbard
fittings show light surface wear w/a small depression
to the underside of the lower ball, but no damage
to the retaining screws. EX/EX+ (26031) $850.
