Third
Reich Hunting Hirschfänger w/Frog. No maker.
Although this Hirschfänger is unmarked, the
blade etch motif matches the style shown in the
1941 F. W. Höller Sales Catalog on their Hirschfänger
Nr. 19 für die Deustche Jägerschaft. Silver-plated
hilt fittings show minor wear with dark age patina
to the fluted pommel cap, recurved crossguard with
stag hoof quillons and fluted clamshell. Dark brown
stag horn grip is perfect with no cracks or chips
and is complete with silver-over-bronze Hunting
Association emblem showing virtually no wear to
silver plate properly pinned to the obverse. Plated
double-etched blade grades EX+/EX++ showing faint
runner marks with some very minor gray speckling
primarily to spine of blade and a few very tiny
nicks to cutting some but no lifting or pitting
or nicks to cutting edge. Etched panels feature
standard Hunting scene of hunting dogs stalking
foxes on obverse with stag and does running through
forest on reverse. Etched panes retain 100% of the
light gray background finish and blade is complete
with green felt buffer pad. Green leather scabbard
shows virtually no surface wear with no loss of
color and, no rips, tears, or creases. Plain, dent-free,
silver-plated scabbard fittings show age patina
matching the hilt fittings and are complete with
both retaining staples. Hirschfänger is complete
with dark green leather frog in EX condition showing
loss of with a small tear to leather adjacent to
suspension lug. Nice Höller pattern example
recently obtained in Germany\. EX+/EX++ (25593)
$1,595. SOLD
