Fire
Department [Feuerwehr]
Under
the Nazis, the Various German fire departments were in effect
nationalized and placed in the hands of the Minister of
Interior, who, in turn, relegated the fire departments as
subordinate units within the overall police structure. In
1939, a different branch of the police was organized for
the purpose of better protecting the cities against fires
resulting from air raids. The resulting units were designated
Feuerschutzpolizei (Fire Protection Police). All
of the larger German cities were required to convert their
existing fire brigades into these new police fire-fighting
units. For more information click

the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich", or some of the
other reference books that we offer.
