Ultra-Rare Third Reich Dove Head Sword w/Unique
Langet. Richard Herder (4-point star) TM. This ultra-rare
sword features a langet eagle which is very similar
to the Herder Pattern Nr. 1017, which is shown on
page 144 (left) of Collecting the Edged Weapons
of the Third Reich, Volume I. Additional photos
are available on page 85 of Swords of Germany 1900/1945
by John R. Angolia. Gilted Tombak hilt fittings
show light surface wear to plain dove head pommel,
with scroll work border extending down the backstrap.
Unadorned knuckle-bow culminates in a crossguard
featuring a 1- piece, cast langet/ferrule with large
silvered Wehrmacht eagle. Black celluloid grip is
perfect and is complete with tight triple-twisted
wire-wrap. Plated blade measuring an impressive
36 ¼” in length grades Near MINT, showing only minor
surface wear, with no graying, lifting, or nicks,
and is complete with original tan leather blade
buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately
98% of its original black enamel shows virtually
no wear or crazing. Sword is complete with original
Officer pattern sword knot in Near MINT condition.
Ultra-rare sword in superb condition retaining virtually
100% of the factory gilting on hilt fittings. Near
