Combat Bayonet w/Matching Numbers & Maker-Marked
Frog. 'ffc',
(Freidr. Abr Herder) TM. (See page 47 of German
Military Letter Codes by John Walter). This mid-war
production bayonet features blued steel hilt fittings
showing surface wear to pommel/flash-guard/crossguard
with reverse pommel double-Waffenamt stamped, "stick
eagle 008 ". The pommel slot push button is
also Waffenamt stamped. Black, grooved bakelite
grip plates show light surface wear with no cracks
or chips and with oil/drain holes at the lower edge
on both obverse and reverse. Blued steel blade grades
EX++ showing only minor runner wear, but no damage
or sharpening to cutting edge, and with obverse
ricasso stamped, "4541" over "d"
with reverse blade stamped, "41ffc". Dent
free, steel scabbard retains approximately 75% of
the factory bluing with upper obverse shell stamped,
"4541" over "d" and reverse
stamped, "41ffc". Reverse scabbard ball
is Waffenamt stamped. Black leather, 4-rivet, double-stitched
frog with grip strap grades EX showing surface wear/age,
but no damage to the rivets or to stitching which
shows no evidence of leather dye or polish. Upper
reverse frog is maker marked, "Landeslieffeungs/genössenschaft
Niedersachsen Hannover" (Lago Hannover) EX+
