Bulgarian Army Dagger. No Maker TM. Examples
of this pattern dagger appear on pages 36-39 of
World of Dress Daggers 1900-1945 by Robert J. Berger.
Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear
with dark age patina to the undamaged open Simons'
crown which is complete with its delicate cross
in perfect condition. Crossguard is in the form
of two outward-facing lion heads with raised Bulgarian
crest on the obverse center. Reverse features a
raised facsimile of the "Bulgarian Military
Order for Bravery". Medium orqange celluloid
grip shows light surface wear with several hairline
cracks to the lowert reverse and an area of missing
celluloid surface on the right edge adjacent to
the pommel, but no damage to the tight twisted silver
wire wrap. Plated, double-etched blade grades EX+/EX++
with minor surface wear primarily to lower blade,
but no nicks to cutting edges. Obverse blade features
the Bulgarian Simons' crown and Cyrillic "B"
(cipher of King Boris III - 1918 - 1943), while
the reverse bears the Cyrillic inscription, "Za
Nami Boga" (God is with us). Blade design is
the same as the German Army dagger and is complete
with black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free,
silver-plated German Army Officer pattern scabbard
shows light surface wear with overall age patina
and some factory lacquer remaining. There is a casting
flaw to the lower obverse edge of the upper oak
leaf suspension band and scabbard throat is attached
with one flat head center mounted screw. EX+/EX++
