Description

Carl Eickhorn · Solingen ·, smooth tail squirrel within small double-oval TM. This textbook example Himmler Honor dagger features early nickel-silver pommel nut and crossguards showing only light surface wear/virdigris age residue with the underside of the lower crossguard stamped with the bench number “0”. NOTE: The dagger has not and will not be disassembled to inspect the internal markings of the crossguards. Early ebony grip shows light wear with surface chipping adjacent to the obverse and reverse upper crossguard, as well as several depressions on obverse/reverse but no hairline cracks. Grip features perfect early quality grip-to-crossguard fit, and is complete with nickel-silver eagle and SS insert properly inset. Mirror polished blade grades EX+ showing runner marks some light gray speckling/shadowing but, no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Crisp, deeply etched SS motto and Himmler inscription retain 100% of the medium gray background frosting. Steel scabbard shows uniform wear to the black anodization with portions of factory lacquer remaining adjacent to the scabbard fittings. There is one pinhead size depression on the center obverse, but no oxidation to finish. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings, with undamaged screws, show light surface wear with dark brown age residue on the reverse lower fitting, but no damage to the lower ball. Dagger is complete with early, unmarked black leather hanger with nickel-silver buckle and early unmarked nickel-silver clip. The leather shows much surface wear/age and clip shows dark, age patina. Nice textbook example of a RARE Third Reich dagger! EX/EX+ (26764)
