No maker. As stated on pages 121-135 of Exploring the Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS by Thomas Wittmann, “The initial production 1936 chained SS daggers were normally equipped with nickel-silver hit fittings… The ebony-colored grips, complete with their nickel national insignia and SS enameled runes, are of the same fine quality as found on the model 1933 SS weapon… The “Type II” chain was initially produced of solid nickel-silver metal.” Nickel-silver hilt fittings and pommel nut show minimal surface wear/age patina with properly unmarked reverse lower crossguard. Black, ebony-colored grip shows light surface wear with the tiniest hairline crack above the SS insert, but no chips or other damage. Nickel-silver grip eagle and SS insert are properly inset. Mirror-polished blade grades EX++ showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Deeply-etched motto retains 100% of the light-gray background frosting and the blade exhibits the perfect grip-to-crossguard fit ratio associated with early daggers. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of its black enamel, showing minor surface crazing with some specks of surface oxidation/missing paint. Dent-free, solid nickel upper, center, and lower scabbard fittings show light surface wear/age patina with no damage to lower ball. Solid nickel Type-II chain hanger features excellent detail to the chain links with portions of factory darkening remaining in the background. Chain hanger is SS proof-marked on the reverse, and the cloverleaf is the non-cutout variety as is proper for Type II chain hangers. The link connecting the upper chain to the cloverleaf has come undone.
