Description
SMF Solingen, seated king TM. Well detailed aluminum hilt fittings show faint surface wear with factory darkening remaining in the oak leaf embellished pommel and crossguard with incised oak leaf pattern on the upper surface of the quillons with approximately 99% of the high quality, muted-gold factory finish remaining on the pommel swastikas. Light yellow, solid celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks or chips, and is complete with tight spongy aluminum wire wrap. The plated blade grades EX, showing light runner marks and uniform gray shadowing/speckling the obverse/reverse, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and no damage to the blade tip. Reverse blade is stamped with a Waffen-Amt stylized eagle and the number “5” below the trademark, and is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad as used by SMF. The nickel-plated scabbard shell shows wear/speckling to the factory finish with factory darkening remaining in the pebbled panels and near the scabbard throat. The natural aluminum suspension bands retain much factory frosting in the recesses of the oak leaf motif and scabbard is complete with two flush, side mounted scabbard throat retaining screws. The 23cm aluminum portepee, in Fair condition shows much wear/fraying to the cord and wear/age to the slide/stem/acorn, and appears original to the dagger. Nice SMF example with superb gilded swastikas. EX/EX+
