WKC, stamped knight’s helmet TM.  For more information on these scarce daggers worn by Hamburg NCO Harbor Officials, see page 349 of Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Navy by Thomas T. Wittmann.  Gilded brass hilt fittings show surface wear/age patina with traces of gilding remaining in recesses of eagle and swastika style pommel and crossguard with fouled anchor motif.  Off-white celluloid-over-wood grip shows surface wear/age with a tiny hairline crack on the upper reverse adjacent to pommel, and is complete with original twisted brass wire wrap.  Hilt is slightly loose on blade tang. Plain, plated, double-fullered blade grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no graying or pitting and no nicks to cutting edges. Reverse ricasso is stamped, “Hamburg” beneath the Kriegsmarine mark consisting of an open-winged stick style eagle/swastika over “M”.  Blade is complete with brown felt blade buffer pad.  Dent-free, gilded brass hammered scabbard shows light wear to highlights with much gilding remaining in the recesses of hammered pattern. Nice, original example of a scarce “Hamburg” marked 2nd Model Navy dagger. EX+
