Description

Sword within “H” inside small oval stamped into underside of the metal blade buffer pad (E. u. F. Hörster).  Gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear to highlights with virtually 100% of the factory finish remaining in the recesses of the pommel with distinctive brow line on the eagle, as well as crossguard with fouled anchor quillon block. The underside of the crossguard and the metal blade buffer pad are stamped “857”. The nicely toned, genuine ivory grip, shows light age striations/spotting, a small hairline crack on the lower right edge and a small chip on the upper obverse adjacent to the pommel but, covered by the portepee cord. The grip is complete with undamaged, twisted brass wire wrap. The modified “Small Rosebud” pattern, double-fuller, Damascus blade grades Near MINT showing only minor surface wear with no gray spotting, pitting, nicks to cutting edges or damage to the tip. The blade tang is stamped “D” signifying “Genuine Damascus” and numbered, “857”. The blade is complete with a tan felt buffer pad. The gilded brass lightning bolt scabbard shows light surface wear retaining much of the gilding and factory lacquer with wear primarily to center obverse shell, suspension rings and scabbard tip. There are several surface depressions to the lower obverse shell but, no damage to the scabbard tip and no damage to the two side-mounted throat retaining screws or to the oak leaf suspension bands. The silver bullion portepee shows uniform age patina to the cord/slide/stem/acorn with woven cord acorn insert but, no fraying or damage. Nice E. u. F.
