Description
No maker. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show surface wear with some speckling/crazing to the pommel and crossguard with portions of factory frosting remaining in the detail of the wings on the stylized RLB eagle crossguard. Black wooden grip shows light surface wear with a small hairline crack on the lower obverse adjacent to the crossguard but no chips, and is complete with silver plate over copper 2nd pattern RLB starburst insignia properly pinned to the obverse grip. Starburst shows wear to the silver-plating, with some tiny “pecks” to the black enamel on the center of the swastika. Plated blade grades VG+/EX, showing uniform peeling to the plating on the obverse/reverse flats of blade but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and no damage to the blade tip. Blade is complete with black leather buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains virtually 90% of the original black enamel, showing light scratches/crazing to the obverse shell with several spots of missing paint to the reverse shell. Dent-free, nickel-plated lower fitting shows minor wear, but no lifting and it is missing the two retaining screws. The integral black leather hanger in EX condition, shows minor wear/age to leather and is complete with nickel-silver attaching planchet with undamaged rivets and “oLc” RZM M5/71 marked nickel-plated upper clip.
