Raised R.K. for Rudolf Karneth to obverse. Bronze, late production clasp features 99% of bronze finish to oak leafs and swastika. “Art Deco” winged arrow device shows 90% of original factory annodization and is attached to clasp with correct single rivet. Unique hinge, catch, and pin are correct for this maker and correspond with the example pictured in GERMAN COMBAT AWARDS.COM data base of originals. As R.K. only produced the short and long range night fighter clasps, the originality of the blackening to the wreath of this particular specimen is unquestionable. One of the only badges awarded during the Third Reich in which the bronze grade is much rarer than the higher grades as when this badge was instituted, most of the night fighters had already qualified for the silver, gold or numbered clasp.
