Description

Early, unmarked, silver-plated example grades Exc++/Near MINT showing light surface wear to highlights w/dark age patina in the recesses of the well detailed eagle’s wings and “1939” trapezoid with straight edges. Reverse eagle shows dark age patina w/portions of the original factory lacquer remaining and is complete with barrel hinged, flat tapered pin. The shape of the eagle and the reverse pin match exactly the unmarked Spange pictured on page 185 upper-right of The Iron Cross of 1939 by Gordon Williamson. Black, leather effect paper, hinged case grades Exc++ showing light age/wear, but no rips or tears. Exterior lid features a detailed, impressed silver facsimile of the Spange which shows wear primarily to the wings & wreath. Interior case shows no wear to the white rayon covered interior lid or to lower fitted portion covered in black velvet. EX++
