Non-German Edged Weapons

Cased Royal Rumanian Officer Dagger

No maker. Nickel-plated hilt fittings feature an eagle head pommel with red glass eyes and portepee ring beneath the eagle’s beak. Down-turned crossguard is embellished with oak leaves. Hilt fittings are crudely cast but show virtually no wear or age. Black Bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Attached to the obverse grip plate is the gilted brass cypher of King Carol II, 1930 – 1940. Nickel-plated, double-edged diamond cross section blade measuring 5 1/2″ in length shows minor runner marks on ricasso and is crudely machined when compared to German quality blades. Nickel- plated dent-free bayonet-style scabbard shows only light surface wear. Dagger is complete with black leatherette presentation case measuring 10 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ x 1-1/4″ showing only surface wear. Interior lid is lined in light blue padded silk with lower portion covered in blue velvet and fitted to accommodate the dagger and scabbard. Blue silk shows light wear with some minor separation where lid and base are hinged. Rare combination! Exc++ (18288)
