Description

Derfflinger” Model 1735 Field Marshal Series Dove Head Sword w/Original Felt Storage Bag. Carl Eickhorn, early stamped squirrel within single-oval TM. Gilded brass hilt fittings show virtually no surface wear to the honey gold, factory gilding pommel on the stylized oak leaf and geometric motif on the pommel/backstrap/ferrule, flat knuckle-bow with oak leaf embellishments and crossguard with close-winged, Wehrmacht eagle within geometric motif border on the obverse langet. Black celluloid-over-wood grip shows virtually no wear with no, nicks, scratches or hairline cracks, and is complete with tight, twisted silver, triple wire wrap. Polished blade measuring 31 1/8″ in length grades MINT with no surface wear/runner marks, graying or nicks to cutting edge and is complete with black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 99% of the original black enamel with only a few tiny scratches to shell and a few specks o missing paint to the drag. Golden tan felt storage complete with draw string grades EX+ showing minor moth nips and some pinhead size moth holes, but no rips of tears. Superb Eickhorn Field Marshal Series sword, that, in view of the early blade and lack of the “Ges.Gesch.” stamp on the underside of the crossguard, could be a prototype or early production example.
