Description

David Malsch Steinbach/Thür surrounding “DM” within single-oval TM. Silver-plated hilt fittings show surface wear/age patina with no silver plating remaining on the background of the brass pommel and crossguard swastikas. The well detailed crossguard shows age patina with portions of factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the feathered motif. Blue leather grip shows surface wear with a several small nips to leather but, no rips or tears, and is complete with tight double wire wrap. Plated blade measuring 28 ½” in length grades EX++ showing light surface wear/runner marks to the flats of the blade, but no lifting, pitting or nicks to the cutting edges. The blade is complete with blue leather buffer pad and is stamped with a Waffen-Amt stylized eagle and the number “8” below the trademark. Dent-free scabbard shows virtually no surface wear to the blue leather covering with but no rips, tears or missing leather, and no damage to the leather seam. Silver-plated, upper and lower scabbard fittings show light surface wear/yellow age patina with a small depression to obverse lower fitting. There is a tiny split to left seam on the lower fitting adjacent to the retaining screw. Sword is complete with integral crescent-shaped blue leather hanger, which shows age/wear to the blue facing leather but, no damage to the stitching.
