Marked with a Knight’s Helmet (WKC) and G.B.&S (Georg Bartling & Söhne) under crossed swords. This dagger is described and pictured on pages 69-74 of A Guide to Military Dress Daggers, Volume I by Kurt Glemser. Gilded brass hilt fittings show virtually no surface wear, with nearly all of the gilding remaining on all surfaces including in the recesses of open crown pommel and crossguard with heavy quillion block with raised style anchor motif. Genuine ivory grip shows light age toning and several hairline cracks along the left and right edges, but no chips, and is complete with twisted brass wire wrap. Double-fuller, “maiden hair” Damascus blade grades near MINT, showing only light surface wear/age with no nicks to the cutting edge, and is complete with red blade buffer pad. Deluxe/variation brass scabbard with “reef knot” suspension bands and desirable “lightning bolt” pattern shows only a few dents to both the obverse and reverse. A beautiful and rare example in this condition. Consignment
