Description
ASW 43 (E.F. Horster) code. This Horster example features blued steel hilt fittings showing much wear to the pommel/flash-guard/crossguard with reverse pommel double Waffenamt stamped “WaA519” and “Wa51”. The dark brown, grooved Bakelite grip plates show surface wear with no cracks or chips, no damage to the retaining screws, and with oil/drain holes at the lower edge on both obverse and reverse. Blued steel blade grades EX showing runner marks and spotting to obverse/reverse blade and much loss to bluing toward the tip. Obverse ricasso stamped, “6141” over stylized “SS” with obverse marked 43 ASW. The dent-free, steel scabbard shows extensive surface rust throughout and significant loss of bluing. The upper obverse is stamped, “6141” over “ASW 43” to reverse with the lower ball Waffenamt stamped. Bayonet is complete with “mounted” frog showing wear and age with inside of retaining strap marked “1939” and “BURG”. VG+ (28785) Consignment SOLD
