Description

RZM M7/67/41 (Gottlieb Hammesfahr & Cie. AG, Solingen-Foche) TM. This late production dagger was recently obtained from the estate of WW II veteran Colonel Clayton Moore, Infantry Third U.S. Army. Plated fittings show surface wear with speckling and lifting to the plating primarily adjacent to the edges of the grip and to the reverse upper crossguard. Medium brown, fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear with one small scratch/nick to the lower, center reverse, but no cracks or chip, and is complete with aluminum grip eagle and SA insert are properly inset. Polished blade grades EX showing uniform light gray shadowing/speckling, but no pitting, nicks to cutting edges or damage to blade tip.. Lightly etched motto retains much of the original background frosting. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 99% of the original chocolate brown paint showing uniform, light surface crazing to obverse/ reverse shell. Dent-free, plated fittings show surface crazing, but no damage to the lower ball or to the unturned retaining screws. The unmarked, brown leather hanger grades EX+ showing light age to leather with minor speckling to nickel-plated buckle and Assmann “A” DRGM and RZM M5/8 marked upper clip. Nice late production, veteran estate acquired dagger with age/storage residue, but no evidence of use. EX (26369)
