Description

E.Pack & Söhne, Solingen, Siegfried wielding hammer TM. An example of this RARE etch pattern is pictured on pages 106 of German Etched Dress Bayonets 1933-1945 by Wayne H. Techet. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with gray speckling to pommel, spine and crossguard, but no major loss of plating. Pommel slot is complete with green felt plug. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips and complete with the off-set screws used by the Pack firm. Plated blade measuring 24cm grades EX+ showing minor surface wear/runner marks and some specks of gray speckling/shadowing or obverse ricasso, but no pitting or nicks to the cutting edge. Obverse blade features the two-line remembrance of service inscription in raised Gothic letters, “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” flanked by oak leaf sprigs. To the right of the inscription is a motif of an 88mm Flak (anti-aircraft- gun) pictured in Pack sales catalog as pattern No. 8 Flugabwehr. The panel retains 100% of the background frosting, and blade is complete with brown leather buffer pad. Steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the original black enamel showing minor crazing and a few scratches to the obverse/reverse shell and loss of paint to lower ball. RARE E. Pack etched bayonet. EX/EX+  ON HOLD
