Description

This superb quality cuffband was recently obtained in German from the son of the original owner, and was further authenticated by three experienced uniform accouterment collectors at the MAX 2000 Show in Pittsburgh. For additional information on this rare pattern cuffband, see pages 72 – 79 of German Military Cuffbands 1784-Present by Gordon Williamson and Thomas McGuirl. This 3rd pattern cuffband, introduced on 7 October 1940, features the hand-embroidered word, “Grossdeutschland” in German Sütterlin script on a high-quality black wool/cloth band edged in 3mm wide aluminum wire Russian braid. Cuffband shows only light age with no mothing or fraying to the bullion, and appears to have been carefully removed from a uniform. Superb original example. Exc++/Near MINT
