Description
Emil Voos, stamped snake around tree trunk single oval TM. This dagger exhibits all of the textbook features associated with Voos produced double-etched blades: impressive etch motifs, contrasting frosted panels, 2nd pattern Luftwaffe eagle with laurel leaf sprigs, and heavy nickel plating. The WKC pattern pommel with pebbled background is the style sold as a “no-maker” example. Well detailed, generic pattern, aluminum crossguard features right over left oak leaf pattern on the upper surface of the quillons. Genuine bone grip shows light age striations/toning with two hairline cracks on the left and right sides running the length of the grip. Grip is complete with tight springy aluminum wire wrap as normally found on Voos bone grips. High quality heavily plated double etched blade grades EX+/EX++ showing light surface wear with two spots of lifting on the lower of blade. The lower obverse blade has been non-professionally personalized with the engraved initials “E. G.” over “K. F.” with the reverse blade engraved “Weihnachten 1942” (Christmas 1942). Some of the lifting mentioned above resulted from the engraving. Etched panels retain 100% of the factory background frosting and the blade is complete with black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, Eickhorn pattern scabbard shows only light surface wear with virtually 100% of the airplane gray finish remaining with superb detail to the oak leaf pattern suspension bands. Throat is retained by two headless, flush mounted, reverse screws. Aluminum bullion, 23cm portepee shows minor wear with some fraying to cord.
