Description

PUMA, SOLINGEN with puma head in square TM.  Silver-plated hilt fittings show age patina with factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel. As the dedication spans over thirty years of service to the Regiment, a possibility exists that this dagger was presented to the honorary Chief of the Regiment, General of Infantry, Ritter von Epp (PLM recipient) who commanded the regiment during WWI. The 61st Infantry Regiment was garrisoned in Munich and was assigned to the Bavarian 7th Infantry Division during WWII. Having fought in Poland and France, the Regiment was surrounded and surrendered to the Russians at the mouth of the Vistula River on 8 May 1945. Polished blade grades EX++ with no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad.  Dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows age patina matching the hilt fittings and is complete with reverse, center mounted, flat-head screw. Dagger is complete with deluxe hangers showing almost no wear but loss to silver wash and portepee which shows light fraying to stem and reverse of tied chord. EX++
