Side-by-side King’s Head & Knight’s Helmet, W.K.& C. TM. An illustration of this pattern sword appears in the Imperial Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie. Sales Catalog as No. 73,  “Pressischer, Artillerie=Extra=Säbel mit breitem Bügel”. Plain nickel-plated hilt shows light surface wear to dove head pommel, plain knuckle-bow and crossguard with several spots of light lifting to obverse crossguard and obverse edge of knuckle-bow.  Black Bakelite grip is perfect showing only light surface wear with tight twisted wire wrap present.  Plated, double-etched blade measuring 33″ in length grades EX++ showing only light surface wear and runner marks. Both obverse and reverse blade feature 13 ¾” long gray frosted, double-etched panels with only faint wear to the frosting. Obverse blade features a floral motif with crossed cannon barrels and facsimile of a mounted Artillery officer flanking the central raised inscription, “Altmark. Feld-Art.-Regt. No 40”. Reverse blade features floral motifs and horse heads flanking the central raised facsimile of a mounted artillery section with riders, cannoneers, caisson and artillery piece. Red felt blade buffer pad is present.  Artillery Regiment No. 40 was garrisoned in Burg, located approximately 35km north of Magdeburg, as part of “7. Feldart. Brig”. Dent-free steel scabbard features retains approximately 95% of its original black enamel showing only light surface wear and minor crazing. EX+.
