Josef Munch, Brotterode initials in oval TM. This very nice early example was recently obtained from a long established advanced edged weapons collection. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show age patina to the pommel with portions of factory lacquer remaining in recesses of crossguard with near perfect black enamel on the crossguard quillon block swastikas. The tip of the right crossguard is Waffen-Amt stamped. The blue leather covered grip has been patched/repaired, but no visible rips, tears, or other blemishes. Plated blade grades VG+ showing wear/age but no nicks to cutting edges and is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Blue leather covered scabbard shows faint surface wear with no rips or tears with no damage/lifting to seam. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings show age patina with portions of factory frosting remaining and are complete with undamaged scabbard screws. Scabbard throat is stamped with the DLV winged propeller. The integral brown leather hanger complete with silver planchet with unmarked clip grades EX+ showing surface wear, but no rips or tears to leather and age patina to silver fittings and clip.
