Description

This superb quality cuff band was recently obtained from a long established, mid-west collection. An illustration of this RARE pattern cuff-band, introduced on 13 February 1941, appears on plate 29 of Badges & Insignia of the Third Reich by Brian Leigh Davis. As stated on page 66 of the above reference, this cuff-band was worn by German Railway Officials for only seven months before it was withdrawn and replaced by the commonly seen arm badges. The band measuring 40mm in width features the machine embroidered inscription, “Wehrmacht – Verkehrsdirektion Brüssel” (Armed Forces Traffic Directorate Brussels) in yellow block letters on a black woven band edged in 3mm wide woven, yellow borders. The unissued band, measuring 40cm in length, grades MINT with no wear or age. Superb original example of a RARE cuffband. MINT/Unissued
