Rich. Abr. Herder, ace of diamonds inside double oval TM.Nickel-silver crossguards show light wear with some surface scratches and with reverse lower crossguard group marked, “Sw” (Sudwest). Reddish brown oak grained grip shows only light surface wear with no cracks, chips, or damage. Grip is complete with early silver M-1929 pattern grip eagle and is without SA insert, possible indicating this was an early production or prototype dagger. Mirror polished blade grades VG+/EX showing light surface wear/runner marks, some light pitting on both upper obverse and reverse, and one nick to upper right cutting edge. Deeply etched motto shows only light surface wear to the ridge of the early variation motto with slight differences in the majority of the letters. The “A” in “Alles” is particularly different from the standard motto etch. An example of this variation SA motto is shown on page 253, upper, of Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume I. Dent-free scabbard shows wear and surface crazing/oxidation to the brown anodized finish with portions of lacquer remaining primarily on the reverse. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings show light surface wear/age patina with several faint depressions in the lower fitting as well as two tiny depressions to the underside of the lower ball. Extremely RARE early SA dagger with early variation motto and grip eagle. EX. CONSIGNMENT
