HOLD

No maker. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show faint surface wear with no lifting or speckling to the pommel or crossguard with well detailed Red Cross emblem on the obverse langet. Black bakelite grip plates show only minor wear to the reverse plate where it has rubbed against the frog, no cracks or chips, and no damage to the retaining screws. Polished double sawtooth blade grades EX++ with virtually 100% of the factory matte crossgraining remaining and no graying or nicks to cutting edge. Obverse ricasso is stamped, “Ges.Geschützt” and is complete with black leather buffer pad. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of the original black enamel showing minor surface scratching to the black enamel primarily on the lower left edge of shell, but no major loss of factory finish. Nickel-plated scabbard fittings show light surface wear with one depression to the obverse lower fitting, but no damage to retaining screws. The black leather, 4-rivet, triple-stitched construction frog shows minor wear/age to leather, but no rips, tears, or damage to stitching, and no loose rivets. Upper obverse is maker marked, “CARL BUSSE MAINZ 1940” (a major Red Cross accouterment manufacturer).
