Description

No maker. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show virtually no surface wear with much lacquered factory frosting remaining throughout and with well detailed Red Cross emblem on obverse langet.  Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips.  Polished, double sawtooth blade grades Near MINT showing only minor runner marks with no pitting or nicks to the cutting edge and no damage to sawtooth spine.  Blade is complete with tan leather blade buffer pad.  Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 98% of the original black enamel showing surface crazing to the obverse/reverse shell with a spot of oxidation on the center reverse.  Nickel-plated scabbard fittings retain much of the original factory lacquer with a few tiny specks to the lower fitting but, no lifting or damage and complete with unturned scabbard screws. The original 4-rive, triple-stitched leather frog grades EX++/Near MINT showing only minor surface wear with no rips, tears or damage to the stitching, with upper reverse frog maker stamped “CARL BUSSE MAINZ 1940”. Very nice example recently obtained in Germany. EX++/Near MINT
