C K & Co., crossed sabers beneath a crown TM (Carl Kaiser & Co., Solingen). Straight plated double-etched blade measuring 29 3/8″ in length shows light surface wear and some minor speckling/lifting to the plating and one small nick on lower cutting edge. Obverse blade features a 13 1/2″ long etched panel consisting of floral motifs, military equipment, and a horse’s head flanking a central blued panel inscribed in raised gothic letters, “2.Chev.Regt.Taxis”. Reverse blade features a 13 1/2″ long etched panel consisting of floral motifs and military equipment flanking a central panel of oak leaves intertwined with a remembrance of service dedication arranged on a blued 8-section ribbon motif. Research in the Bavarian rank list indicates that the Bavarian 2.Chevaulegers-Regiment Taxis in 182 and garrisoned at Regensberg. Nice Bavarian double-etched sword blade. Exc +
