ORIGINAL CARL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN with etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver plated hilt fittings show no loss of plating with most of the factory lacquer remaining on pommel and crossguard, as well as factory darkening remaining in recesses of pommel cogwheel motif and crossguard with stylized TENO emblem on obverse langet. Orange-yellow, solid celluloid grip shows faint surface wear but no cracks or chips and is nicely age toned darker on the obverse. Blade grades EX++ showing only minor runner marks with no nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with black leather blade buffer pad with reverse etched with TENO eagle and “Ges.Gesch” and the serial number “0689” stamped on the upper obverse ricasso. Silver plated scabbard retains approximately 90% of the original factory darkening/lacquer with no lifting or crazing. Scabbard throat is stamped with the matching serial number, “0689”. Scabbard is dent free aside from one very minor depression to lower ball. Dagger is complete with original 23cm portepee in near MINT condition. Black, double-stitched service hangers grade near MINT showing almost no wear/age to leather with no damage to stitching or buckles. For more information on TENO sidearms, see pages 38 – 65 of Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume VII. An outstanding TENO Officer’s dagger with less commonly seen service hangers.
