Initials version A C S with scales, (Alcoso late Weimar/early Third Reich period) stamped TM.  An example of this sword is illustrated in the Alcoso sales catalog reprint as “Offizier-Einheitssäbel Nr. 118”. Plain, unadorned, lacquered-brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to pommel/backstrap, knuckle-bow, crossguard and langet. Black celluloid-over-wood grip shows minor surface wear but, no cracks or chips and is complete with tight, triple-twisted brass wire wrap. The brown leather finger loop grades EX++ showing only minor wear with no rips or tears.  Plated blade measuring 29 7/8” in length grades  EX++/Near MINT showing only faint surface wear with no graying, pitting or nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with brown leather buffer pad.  Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the original black enamel showing light crazing/surface scratches with some wear to the right center edge but, no major damage to the factory finish. Nice example of an officer’s, plain dove-head sword. EX++
