Description

Carl Eickhorn, stamped over-the-shoulder squirrel TM. An illustration of this Hirschfänger appears in the Eickhorn Kundendienst as “Borschriftsmässinger Hirschfänger Nr. 1692 für die Deutsche Jägerschaft” (Regulation Hirschfänger Number 1692 for the German Hunting Association). Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina with factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the fluted pommel cap, recurved crossguard with stag hoof quillons, and fluted clamshell. Dark brown, nicely aged toned stag horn grip is perfect with no cracks or chips, and is complete with silver Hunting Association emblem properly pinned to the obverse. Polished double-etched blade grades EX+/EX++, showing only minor surface wear/age speckling, but no pitting or nicks to the cutting edge. Etched panels feature standard Hunting scenes of hunter, stag and doe on obverse, and hunter with hunting dogs attacking boar on the reverse. Spine of blade is retailer marked in raised letters, “W.Michovius Cottbus”. Blade is complete with green felt buffer pad and retains 100% of the gray background frosting in the etched panels and the laurel leaf motif on the blade spine. Green leather scabbard shows virtually no wear with no scuffs, rips, tears, or creases. Dent-free silver-plated scabbard fittings show age patina where factory lacquer has worn away, but no damage, and are complete with both retaining staples. Nice Eickhorn example illustrated in the Kundendienst. EX++ (25554) HOLD
