Description

Paul Weyersberg, sword within wreath double-oval TM. Uncleaned nickel-silver hilt fittings show light age patina to pommel, upper and lower ferrules and crossguard with minor wear to the brass pommel and  crossguard swastikas, but no damage/wear to the silver background. Dark blue leather grip shows light surface wear, but no rips, tears or nicks to leather, and is complete with tight, triple wire wrap. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks and some graying/speckling, but no lifting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Tip of blade has been professionally and probably period re-tipped resulting in a 1/4” reduction in the blade length. Blue leather covered scabbard shows minor surface wear/age, but no rips or tears. Nickel-silver upper, center, and lower scabbard fittings show surface wear/ age patina with a few very faint depressions to obverse lower fitting and complete with all flush-mounted retaining screws present. The scabbard throat is stamped with the identification/property markings, “3/ 20”. Nickel-silver chain hanger featuring 9 upper & 14 lower rings with unmarked nickel-silver clip shows light wear, but no damage to connectors. Nice early example. EX++.
