Robert Klaas kissing cranes TM. The etch pattern on this bayonet carries the two line remembrance motto between a highly defined Wehrmacht helmet and an open-winded eagle holding a round swastika shield in its talons which matches the motif pictured on page 227 (example A) of “German Etched Dress Bayonets” by Wayne H. Techet as an example of a pre-1938 Robert Klaas bayonet. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show surface wear/speckling with minor loss of plating primarily on the reverse crossguard. Pommel slot is complete with red felt plug. Black bakelite grip plates has one small chip on the lower section of reverse plate near the crossguard. Plated blade measuring 9 3/4″in length grades Exc+ showing minor runner marks, speckling throughout and a couple of minor nicks to the cutting edge. Complete with original black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 85% of the original black enamel showing only a few scratches/spots of wear.
