Description

The ricasso is marked with the ovals, one containing the Paul Weyersberg, Solingen and the other containing the sword pointing downward between two wheat shafts.  The dagger is equipped with early, nickel, solid mounts throughout and the hilt is in EXC++/NM condition.  The center medallion is inserted perfectly with black enamel on the swastika.  The crossguard arms are in excellent condition, with the quillon end being marked with the letter “K” and the underside of each wingspan being marked “LR12” on one side and “ÜE” on the other.  The wood-based grip is bulbous in the center, tapering on the ends. The blade shows minor runner marks but grades near mint and has the original blue leather buffer pad in place. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. The pebbled leather shows minor wear due to age but overall, EXC++ condition. The scabbard fittings are in great condition showing some scratches due to age and the lower ball has been smashed inward. The four flat style scabbard screws are all in place. The short hanger is attached, having good brown leather which typically dries out and breaks off over time. The leather is retained by the two nickel ovals, which each have two rivets. The matching, unmarked, nickel snap clip maintains its proper working spring.   EXC++/NEAR MINT
