KARL ROBERT KALDENBACH, SOLINGEN – GRAFRATH TM. On page 390 of NS Dagger Maker Trademarks – Fisher Quick Reference by R. & R. Fisher the author states that the Kaldenbach firm is rated as a RARE maker of SA Daggers with an estimated 1,000 produced. As stated on page 232 of The Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000 by the late Anthony Carter, “During the Third Reich the firm [Karl Robert Kaldenbach] produced SA daggers with their trademark and later with their RZM number.” Nickel silver hilt fittings show minor surface wear to the crossguards and to the pommel nut. Dark, reddish-brown, fine grained wooden grip with early production quality grip-to-crossguard fit shows virtually no wear to the fine furniture quality finish with no cracks or chips and with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Polished blade grades EX++ with minor runner marks only with no hazing, speckling, or nicks to cutting edges. The deeply etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background frosting. The dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 98% of the original brown anodized finish with only light surface scratches to the lacquer over the brown annodization. The nickel silver fittings show only minor surface wear with one small depression to the underside of the lower ball, and are complete with unturned scabbard screws. Very nice SA dagger by RARE maker. The brown leather 3-piece hanger shows minor wear/age to brown leather strap/keeper with minor wear, but no damage to the nickel silver buckle, upper fitting, or belt loop suspension ring. Nice example by RARE maker. EX++ (28951) Consignment SOLD
