Description
A very nice maker marked E. Pack (E. P. & S.) – Solingen dagger. The black grip is deep wood toned with a chip to the upper left-hand corner, a deep scrap mark above the SS rune, and a minor indentation near the lower crossguard on obverse side. The reverse side of the grip has a chip/lifting in the lower part of grip near the crossguard and some light chips at the top of of grip near the upper crossguard. The grip fits perfectly with the solid nickel crossguards. The lower crossguard has the “III” for Berlin. The SS roundel shows wear and has a indentation on the right hand side due to the deep scratch on the grip. The grip eagle is perfectly inserted and retains 100% of its factory detail. The painted scabbard has scratches/scraps but no dents. The scabbard fittings are in EXC++/NEAR MINT condition, with the exception of the lower ball which is indented on the bottom. The scabbard screws are intact. The blade fits perfectly into the scabbard. The blade has very light speckling and minor runner marks but is still deeply etched with “Meine Ehre Heift True” (“My Honor is True”) and the tip of the blade is intact. These early Ernst Pack & Söhne SS daggers are harder to find, and more desirable as the years pass. The black scabbard hanger is in EXC++ condition and has an “DRGM” “RZM M5-8” stamp in back of clip. The belt loop is worn but the snap works properly.
