Imperial/Weimar Period Hirschfanger (30653)

Unmarked; Condition: EX+/EX++

In stock

Unmarked. Silver hilt fittings show light wear and reflect a light patination throughout the hilt/spine, knuckle-bow/crossguard, deer hoof quillon and to the clamshell. Unique clamshell design features an ancient hunter aiming a hunting rifle and is of extraordinary quality. Beautiful stag grip grades EX++ with NO chips or cracks. Plated, double-etched blade grades EX++ with faint runner marks and light speckling on spine, but no nicks or cuts to cutting edge. Blade etch is much deeper than most hunting pieces and features a floral motif with Auerhahns and stag to obverse and hunting dogs with hunter in forest setting on reverse. Black leather scabbard shows light wear with very minor scuffs to leather, but NO splitting or tears. Upper and lower scabbard fittings reflect light patination consistent with the hilt. An excellent piece!
