Stamped over-the-shoulder squirrel TM. Gilded brass hilt fittings show wear to highlights with portions of gilding remaining in recesses of the oak leaf pommel, backstrap, ferrule, knuckle-bow, and crossguard with open winged eagle. Underside of crossguard quillon is stamped, “Ges. Gesch.”. Black celluloid grip shows light surface wear and is complete with tight triple brass wire wrap and one small crack on upper obverse adjacent to pommel. Plated double-etched blade (Eickhorn etch pattern 3243) measuring 34 ¾” in length and grades Near MINT with no nicks to cutting edge and no graying to the surface. The obverse presentation panel is inscribed in raised Gothic letters “To our Master Sergeant August Klemme on 26.8.1942”. The reverse blade is etched in raised Gothic letters “Presented by the Non-Commissioned Officers of 1st Company Regional Defense Unit Battalion 715”. The dent-free steel scabbard show wear and light crazing to the black finish.
