WKC, knight’s helmet TM. This exact pattern Hirschfänger is illustrated in the WKC sales catalog as pattern Nr. 96,  Glatter Hirschfänger für Forstbeamte.  Plain, gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to the unadorned spine, knuckle-bow and crossguard with fluted clamshell.  Off-white, nicely toned,  celluloid grip plates show light surface wear with no cracks or chips, and are complete with  three acorns without oak leaves on obverse grip plate and two acorns on the reverse grip plate (upper acorn is missing). Plated double-etched blade measuring 30.3cm in length grades EX++/Near MINT, showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no graying, lifting or spotting and no nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with tan leather blade buffer pad.  Obverse blade features scenes of a hunter with hunting dogs attacking a wild boar, while the reverse scene features a hunter shooting at a running stag and doe.  Both etched panels retain 100% of the light gray background frosting.  Dent-free black leather scabbard shows only minor surface wear with some loss of color, but  no rips, tears, or creases, and no damage to the reverse stitching.  Dent-free, upper and lower gilded brass plain fittings retain virtually 100% of the factory fire gilding and are complete with both retaining staples. Scabbard is complete with EX++ silver/green Forestry portepee showing light age/wear, but no rips or fraying. EX+/EX++
