Description

F. W. Höller, thermometer inside double oval TM. A color illustration of this sword appears on page 13 of the 1941 Höller sales catalog as “Nummer 22 Der Beliebte Offizier-Lowenkopf-Sabel mit Hoheitszeichen, in Leichter Form.” Gilted brass hilt fittings show wear to highlights with portions of the matte gold frosting remaining in the redesses of the the lion head pommel with red glass eyes, oak leaf embellished backstrap, knuckle-bow, and langet with open wing Wehrmacht eagle and swastika. Black celluloid grip shows light age/wear but, no nicks or chips and is complete triple brass wire wrap with several loose strands and one strand missing. Plated blade measuring 31 ½” in length grades EX/EX+ showing runner marks/light wear with nicks to the cutting edge but, no lifting or peeling to plating and is complete with brown leather buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of the original black enamel showing crazing to obverse/reverse shell with loss of enamel primarily to lower obverse and drag. EX/EX+.
