C. GUSTAV SPITZER SOLINGEN, with lion in circle etched TM. This maker is rated as a “6” on the rarity scale in both Ralph Siegert’s SA book and the “McSarr” scale: one of the rarest. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show almost no surface wear/age with reverse lower crossguard marked “No” for Nordsee. Medium brown, fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset with one very small chip to reverse along the lower crossguard. Mirror polished blade grades near MINT showing light surface wear/runner marks and no nicks or cuts to the cutting edge. Deeply etched motto retains 99% of the artificial graying to background. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 94% of the brown anodization with light surface scratches to the shell. Upper nickel-silver scabbard fitting shows almost no surface wear/age. Lower hilt fitting has one very minor depression and ball is undamaged. EX (27908)
