WWII German Mauser K98 Bayonet with Portepee and Frog (002)

$995.00

Description

This is a Seitengewehr 98K bayonet with diagonally grooved bakelite grip plates and blued steel blade.   This bayonet was used for the KAR 98K Mauser rifle.   The scabbard and blade are both marked with the matching numbers “4106”.  The blade has been sharpened with the tip of blade remaining in a point.   The Waffenamt military stamp shown stamped directly on the head of the slotted grip screw bolt has the inspector ID numbers “WaA 863”.   These tiny proof marks are typically stamped on multiple parts of the bayonet.    The pommel and slotted grip screw have the tiny proof marks.   The scabbard is a matte black painted finish with the matching numbers “4106 on the reverse side of scabbard above the frog stud and “S/185K” on the obverse side below the throat of scabbard.   The scabbard has scratch marks going around the scabbard along the lower section of scabbard and small indentations in the ball of the scabbard only.   The K98 black leather frog  shows normal age/wear but is in overall EXC++ condition.   The silver NCO portepee is post war and is in MINT condition.
